We started “Archelan” to reflect our
personal philosophy and commitment to leading edge design. “Arch” symbolizes
our vision of connecting people and cultures together, while “élan” characterizes
the passion and distinctive flair that are evident in all of our
art glass pieces.
Fortunate to experience the best of Eastern traditions and Western lifestyles,
our journey of discovery provided inspiration from a diverse foundation
of culture and art. During our early travels across Asia, we came across
artistic talents that only few could comprehend and even fewer practiced.
Others are shown in such limited and traditional fashion that one ponders
whether thousands of years of history and culture can be more practically
highlighted. Today, as urban high rises and Western tastes traverse the
new landscape of China, many classical arts have been resigned to reproductions
of inferior quality, catering to only the tourists and the curious. Amazed
by both the art and challenged by its limitations, we took on a personal
mission to revitalize Asian decorative art. Taking cues from our own heritage
and blending in styles from modern urban living, we strive to create something
fresh, something new and exciting from two seemingly divergent perspectives.
The wonderful spirit of collaboration across our teams of designers, glass
sculptors and artists in the U.S. and China is the catalyst in creating
such extraordinary art objects. All of our glass pieces remain faithful
to the authenticity and intricacies of the original process and technique.
At the same time, we seamlessly blend in the form and functionality of
contemporary designs, thereby elevating the tradition art form of “inside-painting” to
new heights and showcasing its full artistic potential.
