Stories and Symbolisms


Asian culture is rich in symbolisms. Throughout its long history, many aspects of life have been represented by a suitable collection of symbols. With centuries of tradition along with a vivid imagination, the use of symbols is designed to express ideas. This became a unique and interesting way of expressing hopes and beliefs, and to convey good wishes to others.

Bamboo
  Bird of Paradise   Butterflies
Evergreen and upright, the bamboo grows so beautifully even in the harshest of winters, thereby symbolizing strength, growth and perseverance.   The flamboyant Bird of Paradise, named after one of the most beautiful birds in the world, symbolizes freedom and magnificence.   A universal representation of joy, happiness and hope. Love is the message when paired with flowers.
   
Cherry Blossom

Beautiful during full bloom in spring, the cherry blossoms if often regarded as a symbol of feminine beauty.

 

A symbol of purity and longevity. When paired, it represents everlasting love and marital bliss.

  It is often said that the brilliance of a dragonfly’s colors, when refracted from sunlight, is symbolic of “seeing the light”, a way of encouraging one to reach for their full potential in all their endeavors.
   
Fish and Koi
  Gingko   Iris

Symbolizing abundance and prosperity, the “fish” is an auspicious symbol in many Asian cultures. The Koi Fish, specifically, is an emblem of good fortune, endurance, perseverance and path to success.

  The Gingko has been with us long before recorded time. Its timeless fan-shaped leaf is one of nature’s most elegant forms and remains a spirit of hope and elixir of healing for many.  

Named after the Greek goddess of the rainbow, relaying message between heaven and earth, the Iris often symbolizes royalty, faith and valor.

   
Ladybugs
  Lotus   Magpie

Considered a bearer of good fortune, it is often believed that if a ladybug lands on your hand, it will bring you luck. The more spots on the back, the better the luck.

  Represents truth and purity because its blossoms emerge pure and beautiful out of muddy water. It is an idealistic symbol of human beings’ true nature of honesty and virtue.   According to legend and folklore, a visit from a magpie will bring you and your loved ones a blissful future.
   
Peonies
  Plum Blossom   Tulip
In many Asian cultures, the peony symbolizes love, affection and feminine beauty. When highlighted with butterflies, it means joy and happiness in marriage and love.   An emblem of hope and continuity of life, the plum tree is admired by many for its ability to withstand the harshness of winter and nourish itself into a spectacular blossom of majestic hues when spring arrives.   Known as a passionate flower, the tulip represents a declaration of eternal love and admiration.
